Gang Reduction and Intervention Task Force

The purpose of the Gang Reduction and Intervention Task Force (GRIT) is to provide ongoing direction to a partnership of agencies working together towards achieving better outcomes for youth, with an emphasis on youth empowerment, engagement, and avoiding gang membership. Through collaborative efforts, GRIT aims to address the root causes of gang involvement, offer supportive services, and create pathways to success for at-risk youth in our community. The task force works to build trust, encourage positive relationships, and foster community resilience. By focusing on prevention, intervention, and community-based strategies, GRIT strives to reduce violence and promote positive, lasting change in the Yakima Valley.
Agency partners meet regularly to share resources, discuss challenges, and strategize solutions. Through these collaborative meetings, the task force is able to strengthen its efforts and create a unified approach to addressing gang involvement and youth empowerment. These ongoing conversations ensure that the community remains engaged and focused on effective solutions. Find out more at drcyakima.org/grit or call (509) 453-8949.
