The Donor Designated Advisor (DDA) Program

Professional Advisors workspace

Charitable giving shouldn't require clients to leave the advisor they've trusted for years.

For qualifying donor advised funds, the DDA Program provides a customized investment approach that allows eligible wealth advisors to continue managing charitable assets after they have been irrevocably contributed to Yakima Valley Community Foundation.

While the advisor continues providing investment management, YVCF administers the donor advised fund, facilitates grantmaking, and provides philanthropic expertise and community knowledge.

It's not about replacing the advisor.

It's about creating a stronger partnership.

Why Advisors Appreciate the DDA Program

For many advisors, charitable planning presents an opportunity to deepen client relationships.

The DDA Program allows eligible advisors to continue serving their clients while expanding the charitable planning solutions available to them.

Benefits may include:

  • Maintaining continuity in long-standing client relationships.
  • Continuing investment management of eligible charitable assets.
  • Integrating charitable planning into comprehensive wealth management.
  • Collaborating with YVCF's philanthropic specialists.
  • Helping clients maximize the impact of their charitable giving.
  • Access to a trusted local partner with deep community knowledge.

Rather than viewing charitable giving as the end of the investment relationship, the DDA Program allows charitable planning and investment management to work together in service of the client's goals.

Why Clients Benefit

Clients often want more than a tax deduction.

They want confidence that their giving reflects their values and creates meaningful change.

Through a partnership between their advisor and YVCF, clients can benefit from:

  • Continued relationships with the advisor they know and trust.
  • Personalized charitable planning.
  • Access to local nonprofit expertise.
  • Flexible grantmaking opportunities.
  • Professional administration of their charitable fund.
  • Opportunities to involve future generations in philanthropy.
  • A charitable strategy that grows alongside their goals.

Together, advisors and YVCF create a charitable experience that is thoughtful, organized, and centered around what matters most to the client.

Two Investment Approaches. One Shared Goal.

Every client has different investment objectives.

For charitable funds meeting program requirements, clients generally have two investment options through YVCF:

Option 1: Donor Designated Advisor Program

Clients may recommend that an eligible financial advisor continue managing their charitable fund through YVCF's customized investment partnership.

Option 2: Community Foundation Investment Pools

Clients may instead choose one of YVCF's professionally managed investment pools, selecting an investment strategy that aligns with their risk tolerance and long-term charitable objectives.

Both options are designed to support long-term charitable growth while providing flexibility based on each client's unique needs.

Is the DDA Program Right for Your Client?

The DDA Program is designed for charitable funds that meet the Foundation's eligibility requirements.

Currently, participation requires a minimum relationship balance of $250,000, which may consist of one charitable fund or multiple qualifying funds from various clients combined in aggregate. Additional Foundation review, documentation, and approval are required before participation begins.

If a client isn't a fit for the DDA Program, YVCF offers additional investment options and charitable giving solutions that may better align with their philanthropic goals.

Our objective is never to fit clients into a program.

It's to help identify the solution that best serves them.

Why Work with YVCF?

Charitable giving is personal.

Every donor has different motivations, priorities, and goals.

That's why we believe charitable planning should never be one-size-fits-all.

As a community foundation, we offer something national organizations cannot:

A deep understanding of the Yakima Valley.

Our relationships with local nonprofits, educators, healthcare organizations, civic leaders, and community partners allow us to connect donors with opportunities that create meaningful, measurable impact close to home.

At the same time, we also facilitate grants to qualified charitable organizations across the country, giving clients the flexibility to support causes wherever their passions lead them.

Let's Start the Conversation

Charitable planning isn't about choosing between philanthropy and trusted financial advice.

It's about bringing both together.

Whether your client is considering a donor-advised fund, exploring complex assets, developing a family giving plan, or determining whether the Donor Designated Advisor Program is the right fit, Yakima Valley Community Foundation is here as a trusted resource and collaborative partner.

Together, we can help clients create meaningful charitable impact while preserving the trusted relationships they've spent years building.

Because the best outcomes happen when we partner for good.
