Yakima Valley Community Foundation Welcomes CPA and Community Advocate, Mauricio Peralta, to its Board of Directors
Yakima, WA – The Yakima Valley Community Foundation (YVCF) announced today the addition of its newest board member Mauricio Peralta. Peralta, a first-generation American, brings over two decades of professional accounting experience, a strong commitment to service, and a passion for creating opportunities for the region’s diverse communities.
Peralta received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Central Washington University in 2004 and went on to earn a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 2012. He began his career with Alegria & Company, P.S. and later joined Selberg Peralta, PS, where he became a partner in 2024. Today, his CPA firm provides comprehensive tax and accounting services to small- and medium-sized businesses and individuals across Washington State.
Drawing on his 23 years in public accounting and 18 as a Certified Public Accountant, Peralta is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is deeply motivated by the example set by his parents, who immigrated from Mexico to the Yakima Valley, working tirelessly to create a better life for their family. It is this personal journey—watching his parents’ sacrifices and understanding the importance of education and opportunity—that drives his commitment to giving back to the community.
“I am charity-driven because people helped me along the way,” Peralta said. “The best way I can show my appreciation is by paying it forward.” As a husband, father of four, and dedicated family man, Peralta’s values align closely with YVCF’s mission to improve quality education, advance civic vitality, and enhance health and well-being in the community.
Peralta was inspired to join the YVCF Board of Directors after careful consideration of the Foundation’s work and values. Recommended by fellow CPA and former YVCF board member Gilbert Plascencia, he recognized that the Foundation’s priorities mirror his own belief in creating pathways for those who start at a disadvantage—particularly immigrants and first-generation Americans. He aims to use his financial acumen and cultural perspective to broaden the Foundation’s reach, ensuring that more individuals understand and access the resources available to them.
“My goal is to help expand YVCF’s impact,” Peralta said. “There are many people in our valley who can identify with my story—people who are in need and deserve the chance to break old cycles. Education, civic vitality, and well-being are essential to leveling the playing field so that everyone, regardless of where they start, can achieve their potential.”
The Yakima Valley Community Foundation is excited about the leadership, insight, and dedication that Peralta will bring to the Board.
